Kempas (shown above)- Dense hardwearing wood and is virtually clear of all knots. Similar in overall color to American Cherry. Merbau - Very hard and dense wood with occasional small knot. 49% harder than red oak. The color varies from mid redish brown to yellow brown with occasional lighter and darker boards. Small yellow flecks in the grain are a common feature.
